What browser storage means here
Cookies and Local Storage are ways a website can store information in your browser or access information already stored there. They are not interchangeable: a browser setting that clears cookies may not also clear Local Storage. This page describes the technologies identified for this site, including a Local Storage identifier used for analytics and cookies used for administrator sign-in. It does not describe server technical logs as cookies; those logs are separate from information stored in your browser.
Analytics
The site’s setup includes self-hosted Kantan Analytics. It records visits, pages viewed, sources of visits, countries, devices, clicks, scrolling and conversions. It uses random identifiers in Local Storage, not analytics cookies, and does not retain IP addresses in its analytics statistics. An identifier can help distinguish activity associated with a browser; it should not be confused with a name or an assurance that the activity is anonymous. The available information does not specify what counts as a conversion on this site.
Detailed analytics records are retained for 90 days. Aggregates and summaries may be kept for longer. External analytics webhooks are switched off. The fact that the analytics software is self-hosted does not, by itself, establish that no other party can process information involved in delivering the site. Information about retention of server technical logs and conditions for data transfers has not been confirmed.
Administrator cookies and other site features
Authentication cookies are used for administrator sign-in. These support access to the administration area; they are not described here as cookies set for every visitor reading an article. Cookie names, expiry periods and the precise circumstances in which administrator cookies are set have not been supplied.
The site runs on WordPress and is hosted with Contabo. Public forms, comments and advertising are switched off, and the site does not have a newsletter or affiliate links. Those facts should not be read as a complete inventory of every technical request a browser might make. In particular, the available information does not identify other browser-storage technologies or their durations.
Consent and exceptions
UK rules on storing information on a device or accessing information already stored there may require consent unless a relevant exception applies. Whether an exception applies depends on the technology’s purpose and how it is used; analytics must not be assumed exempt simply because it is self-hosted or uses Local Storage rather than cookies. Likewise, merely visiting or continuing to browse the site is not, by itself, consent to storage that requires consent. Any use that requires consent should be subject to that requirement before the storage or access takes place. An administrator sign-in cookie and an analytics identifier serve different purposes and may require different assessments.
The information supplied for this page does not establish whether a consent interface is available, whether consent has been collected, or whether an exception applies to this analytics setup. This page therefore does not claim that visitors have agreed to analytics or that analytics storage is automatically permitted.
Your choices and questions
You can use your browser controls to inspect, block or delete cookies and Local Storage for this site. Browser menus and the effect of these controls vary. Clearing a Local Storage identifier may affect how subsequent visits are distinguished, but it does not necessarily erase analytics records already collected. Blocking authentication cookies may prevent an administrator from signing in. These browser controls are practical ways to limit storage on your device; they are not a substitute for any withdrawal method that must be provided where consent is relied upon.
For questions about this site’s use of browser storage, contact Harry Jones at hello@atelierhome.site. When asking about a particular technology, describing the browser and the activity involved may help identify it; you do not need to send passwords.
Visitor statistics — Kantan Analytics
We use self-hosted Kantan Analytics to understand visits: pages, traffic sources, approximate country, device and browser, clicks, scrolling and paths through the site. The plugin uses browser Local Storage for random visitor and session identifiers, rather than analytics cookies. A separate first-party preference cookie can exclude the site owner’s browser from analytics for one year. Automation checks may set a session preference cookie to exclude technical visits. IP addresses are processed for country lookup and abuse prevention but are not stored in Kantan statistics. Detailed records are retained for 90 days; aggregates, summaries associated with random visitor identifiers and conversion records may be kept longer. Forwarding conversions to external services is disabled. For questions or requests, use the operator contact details on this page.
